Hi Mario,

Yes, that's what I did with my disease and I recovered.

We need more brave souls to be guinea pigs and teach us which diseases benefit from high-dose D!

And then we need scientists to investigate why the D helps.

If indeed there's a pathogen that shuts down CYP27B1 expression, it would be great to know what it is. Some enterprising scientist should collect Charles's blood and measure CYP27B1 expression.

As usual :), really fascinating stuff, Paul!

I have allways wondered what would be the outcome on my Hashimoto with a high dose of vitamin D, since this is another disease where people tend to have a low 25OHD and gene polymorphisms on Vitamin D receptor (Pubmed 16721822, 18279374 and 10905383).

Anyway, as I'm managing to reverse this disease with what I'm doing, I think I will keep my actual dose of vitamin D (5,000 UI).

Hi qualia, That's interesting. I don't know what causes the grayish skin. I would be sure to drink lots of water on "ON" days. You will need much more than normal when taking the iodine, and dehydration could have something to do with it.

paul, i found the following probiotic species to be of special benefit:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saccharomyces_boulardii

i just recently switched from the standard garden of life "primal defense" probiotic to the "ultra" version, which is basically the same, but also includes Saccharomyces Boulardii.
what a difference this one species has made! i now can eat stuff like certain fruits or even egg-white protein powder that i knew instantly created an inflamed and swollen belly, without any such effect whatsoever! and this after only a 24h phase of heavy "loading" with the new ultra formula. so it definitely makes a difference, and everyone that suspects a gut infection should try it! Saccharomyces Boulardii is also available as a separate supplement of course.

with regard to biofilm, i just recently listened to an episode of byron richards (way underrated) "weekly wellness update" podcast, where he mentions that a new study found niacinamide to be a very effective biofilm disruptor (surprisingly). his always fun and informative podcasts can be found here: http://www.wellnessresources.com/rss/podcast/

ah, btw "upping iodine to 50mg/day" - i'm now at 20mg/day with stable, if not even recessing bromide acne. i often do a "few days ON, and few days OFF" scheme, and what i noticed is that on the "ON" days, i always pretty rapidly get dry and grayish and "old" looking skin (whole body), which you would expect to see on a heavy smoker, and on the OFF days, this reverts back also pretty fast (2-3 days) into normal, healthy looking skin again. in the "ON" phase, the skin also seems to be less sensitive to touch, and almost feels a bit numb at times. i guess the usual theory behind this probably would be "that's the excess bromide that is mobilized" etc, but to me it looks more like excess oxidative damage(?). what do you think? is it just a whole-body bromide symptom, or can high amounts of iodine intake (IOSOL) also have "real" short term detrimental effects? thanks!

One last thought: the more centralized any activity, whether it's medical care, the public schools or anything else, the more of the budget goes towards administrative costs.

FYI to your older readers. In order to divide and conquer us more efficiently, the federal government/Medicare is requiring that patients "update" their records using a new form they've provided. On these forms is a space where we are to fill in our "race."

I hope everyone will do as we did, write the word, human, in the appropriate box.

David, thanks for sharing your point of view. I don't agree that a socialist system is as free as a market system, but I think we've probably exhausted the interest of our audience, so I'll stop the debate. It's been a pleasure though. Hope you find the blog useful.

Best, Paul
