O Come, Christmas

Merry Christmas everyone! My favorite Advent hymn

provides a good prayer for the PHD community:

O come, Thou Wisdom from on high,

Who orderest all things mightily;

To us the path of knowledge show,

And teach us in her ways to go.

This is the Vespers prayer of December 17 (O Sapientia) and, in the Catholic hymnal, the second verse of “O Come, O Come Emmanuel”. But it works well at all times for a science blog.

Remember that God is with us (O Emmanuel), and have a most merry Christmas and a healthful new year!

  1. Beautiful verse and beautiful song! Many thanks for your blog, all of your research and Book, The Perfect Health Diet. It has turned around my husbands hyperthyroid issues from where the doctor wanted to remove his thyroid or have him take the radiation. Instead my husband chose to try and heal naturally, and by following your book, not only did the thyroid improve, the goiter go away, and his weight stabilize (he was getting so thin!), they now have reduced his daily medication!!! So you cannot imagine how grateful to you and Shou-Ching we are! Blessings for a wonderful Christmas to your family from ours, and with much gratitude, Kathy
(Mario and Kathy ) & Merry 1st Christmas to Luke!!!

    • Hi Kathy,

That’s great! Thanks for letting me know! Be sure he eats plenty of bones/joint/tendon/skin/hoof material for matrix, and extra vitamin C, to accelerate wound healing.

      Merry Christmas!

      Paul

  2. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!

  3. Oh, I was so, so so hoping you’d post a beautiful Christmas hymn today and there it was! Lovely! Last year you posted ThePianoGuys version and I listened to it a hundred times–so hauntingly magnificent. Amazingly, yesterday I attended a special Christmas Eve 75-minute vinyasa yoga class in which our leader played that exact ThePianoGuys version while we did our yoga flow. It was magical.

Blessings to the entire Jaminet family. You have brought so much light into the world. Peggy and Herb

  4. Merry Christmas to you, Paul and Shou-Ching! My family and myself are among those whose lives have been healed and enriched beyond measure by your work, and we are tremendously grateful.

  5. Thanks, Paul, and a merry Christmas to the Jaminets!

  6. Merry Christmas to the Jaminet Family! Wonderful rendition of a favorite hymn – Thank you for posting it and for all your work “tearing a little piece off the darkness” (per Bono).

  7. I’m glad to see another Catholic praying the Divine Office!!

  8. I was so excited to wake up early on Christmas morning and remember and hope and expect that there would be something deeply inspiring and beautiful on the PHD website. The first thing I did was open it up just as first light was appearing in the Eastern sky, windows open because it is that warm today in Philadelphia, and there it was, your favorite Advent music. You never, ever disappoint!

There are many ways of praying and expressing gratitude. I pray with my body, usually through yoga. Today I shall pray and move to O Come, O Come, Emmanuel. Thank you for that!

“Starting with a single cellist on the floor of the National Air and Space Museum’s “Milestones of Flight” gallery, and swelling to 120 musicians, The U.S. Air Force Band exhilarated museum visitors with its first-ever flash mob. The four-minute performance featured an original arrangement of “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring/Joy to the World,” led by the band’s commander and conductor, Col. Larry H. Lang.” -anon

Zech14:4, Joel3:1-2 Jesus will return to earth at Jerusalem and will defend the regathered Jews living there against the nations of the world.

Rev19:11 The war that the Messiah fights on behalf of Israel will be a just war, fulfilling Rom15:8-13.

Matt25:40 This fight will divide us all 🙁
